웨스트코스트 힙합의 전성기가 도래하는 데 결정적인 역할을 했던 장르, 쥐펑크(G-Funk)가 탄생한 배경에는 피-펑크(P-Funk)가 있었다. 바로 이 피펑크의 창시자인 조지 클린턴(George Clinton)이 이끄는 밴드 펑카델릭(Funkadelic)의 새 앨범이 발표됐다. 디지털로 먼저 발매되었으며, CD는 오는 12월 23일에 나올 예정이다.

 

이들의 마지막 정규작이 1981년에 발표된 [The Electric Spanking of War Babies]였으니 무려 33년 만이다. 이에 맞춰 앨범의 구성도 상당하다. [First Ya Gotta Shake the Gate]라는 타이틀의 이번 앨범은 총 3장의 디스크에 33곡이 수록되었다.

 

슬라이 스톤(Sly Stone), 블랙버드 맥나이트(Blackbyrd McKnight), 게리 쉬더(Gary Shider), 붓시 콜린스(Bootsy Collins), 버니 워렐(Bernie Worrell), 델 더 펑키 호모사피엔(Del the Funky Homosapien) 등등, 게스트 또한, 걸출한 뮤지션들이 대거 참여했다.
